Program
Rising Sun Karate Club is a program designed for pre-school and school age children to learn basic karate principals. The program is strictly a no-sparring curriculum where children will learn basic techniques using hand-pads, kicking targets and water noodles. The children will learn proper stance, counting, katas and form along with discipline and self-control. We are committed to training children with the highest standards of sportsmanship, self-control while building self-confidence and self-esteem.
Karate utilizes methods that build strength, endurance, flexibility, posture, balance and coordination. The physical benefits of karate are evident; however there are many non-physical benefits as well. Karate enhances self-confidence in children by eliminating the need for them to compete against others. Instead, karate teaches children to draw from their own strengths and be the best they can be.
A confident child feels more valuable and has the ability to face life’s challenges head on. Self-assured children are more resilient to peer pressure, and are less likely to get into serious trouble or do drugs.
Karate also improves a child’s focus and self-discipline. The focus it takes to execute martial arts, even in the most basic form, spills over into a child’s everyday life and can improve study habits, school performance, listening abilities and their ability to follow directions. Children are impulsive by nature and often make decisions based on their emotional state. Over time, the discipline that karate teaches helps a child to make clear and appropriate choices.
