Safe Kids Club
Safe Kid’s Club kids will be introduced to Martial Arts and will get to observe a karate demonstration by a black-belt instructor. They will be able to participate in some basic drills and will be given real self-defense and safety awareness tools they can easily use to feel confident and stay safe. All self-defense and safety awareness information is presented in a serious, yet non-threatening way so children are encouraged to be aware and diligent without being afraid. We will incorporate bully-proofing exercises as well as role-playing, how to appropriately handle a bully and how not to become a bully. Additionally, we will be talking to older kids about staying safe on the internet and will incorporate cyber-defense in the program materials. The instructors will incorporate a variety of karate games, role playing and demonstrations so students get the most out of their time with us.
The program will be tailored for each group based on the size, age and issues currently facing each school. In order for students to receive the maximum benefit we try to limit class size to no more than 25 students, but would be happy to work with any school on special programming needs. The program is designed to be interactive and we encourage child involvement and participation in the demonstration/training.
All participants will receive a certificate of completion and a handout with tips on how to stay safe and use what they learned appropriately. Parents will receive a handout outlining the program and what their child learned along with a Parent Resource Guide giving tips and resources for topics related to keeping kids safe everywhere, all the time.
We will provide each school with a packet of information once you have committed to having us come to your school. Included in the packet will be sign-up sheets, hand-outs to promote the program to parents, an email that can be forwarded to all parents and a brochure outlining the program that includes a permission slip. The only thing your school provides are students and the location.
